With the arrival of the summer months, we know that Father’s Day is coming up quickly. Gifts Dad will love are not always the easiest to come up with.  That’s why we wanted to offer a few suggestions.

We are living in a different time than even six months ago, so gift ideas for Dad have also shifted. It’s not so easy to take Dad out for a meal or go visit across state lines. Check out these ideas for your next Father’s Day celebration.

Give a Gift That is From the Heart

Plant a tree in honor of Dad. You can have a tree or a grove of trees planted in Dad’s name in a designated national forest.  National forests preserve our country’s rich heritage and beauty.

The US Forest Service website lists organizations that will plant a tree in honor of Dad. Two examples that are listed there are The National Forest Foundation and  Arbor Day Foundation.

These nonprofit organizations work to conserve the parks across the USA. By donating in Dad’s name, you are creating a living tribute to him.

The National Forest Foundation will stamp and mail Dad a personalized, commemorative card notifying Dad of the gift and the associated tree planting.

The Arbor Day Foundation gives an option for you to download and print yourself or have a card mailed to Dad.

Communication with Dad is a Gift He Will Love

With social distancing protocols and greater difficulty traveling, seeing Dad face to face may be more of a challenge. Getting Dad started on a new hobby that you could participate in together could be a great gift for keeping Dad in touch and engaged.

Check out some starter options in the HAM radio world. Bear in mind, being a HAM radio operator does require an amateur license from the FCC. That license costs $70, but will last for 10 years. That makes it only $7 per year to stay in touch. A HAM radio is great to have on hand for emergencies, storms or disaster of any kind.

Laughter is Always a Great Gift for Dad

Amazon has some great books on Dad Jokes, the kind of jokes that are so incredibly bad that they end up making us all laugh. Check these out:

Dad Jokes: the Good. the Bad. The Terrible

Making Dad laugh is always a great gift. He will love laughing with you and may even have some Dad jokes of his own!

Dad Will Love the Gift of Getting to Wet His Whistle

Liquor.com wrote up an article on the seven best whiskey subscriptions of 2020.  Getting Dad a subscription of any kind will remind him monthly that you are thinking of him. As long as you are over 21, ordering him a monthly arrival of a whiskey gives him the gift of a whiskey he may never get to try  otherwise.

We are particularly interested to try Screwball’s Peanut Butter Whiskey! If you try it out, let us know in the comments below. Screwball’s own website has a recipe for a Peanut Butter (and Jelly) Old Fashioned.that sounds pretty good!

What really counts is that Dad knows he’s appreciated for all of the little (and big) things he does.

Whether or not you try any of these Father’s Day gift ideas, we hope you enjoy your Father’s Day.
